The electrical scope on an HVAC changeout, a solar array, a EV charger, or a full remodel is rarely the hard part. The license is. So contractors sub it out, lose control of the schedule, lose the margin, and take the blame when the sub no-shows. Permit Brothers removes the bottleneck without removing you from the job.
This isn't a compliance expense. It's a service-line expansion — the fastest kind, because you already have the customers, the trucks, and the estimators.
The panel upgrade, the dedicated circuit, the disconnect, the service call you currently hand to a "guy you know." That scope stays on your invoice, at your margin, on your schedule.
National accounts, multi-site rollouts, and franchise work usually die on licensing coverage. With permits available in all 48 continental states, geography stops being a disqualifier on the RFP.
When your permit timeline is predictable, you can quote a firm install date. Firm dates close deals and command higher prices than "we'll get you on the schedule."
The wall: mini-splits, heat pumps, disconnects, and whole-home changeouts all need electrical permits and sometimes a service upgrade — so you sub it out and give away the easiest margin on the job.
With us: quote the electrical in-house, keep the changeout on your own schedule, and stop losing shoulder-season jobs to the sub's backlog.
The wall: high permit volume, aggressive install timelines, and jurisdictions that each want something slightly different. One slow AHJ package and the whole install calendar slips.
With us: repeatable filings across every market you sell into, plus panel and service-upgrade scope you can now capture instead of referring out.
The wall: the electrical sub sets your critical path. They slip, the drywaller slips, the punch list slips, and the client blames you — not them.
With us: the permit is in your name and moves on your timeline. You sequence trades around your schedule instead of theirs.
The wall: you have the crews and the skill, but you're licensed in one or two states — so you watch multi-state and national accounts go to bigger competitors.
With us: bid national work immediately, expand into neighboring states without waiting years on reciprocity, and grow footprint before you grow overhead.
Also serving: property management & facilities groups, sign and lighting companies, low-voltage and security integrators, generator installers, pool and spa contractors, and national retail rollout vendors.

Permit Brothers serves as the licensed electrical contractor of record on the permit, while your company remains the customer-facing brand on proposals, invoices, and communication. Your client works with you and only you. How the relationship is structured varies by state, and we set each engagement up to match that state's requirements.
Licensing rules differ meaningfully state to state and sometimes city to city. We only operate in structures each jurisdiction permits — which may mean acting as your electrical subcontractor of record, serving as qualifying agent, or filing directly, depending on where the job is. We'll tell you exactly how it works in your state before you commit to anything.
We target filing within 24–48 hours of receiving a complete package. After that, the timeline belongs to the AHJ — some issue same day over the counter, others take weeks for plan review. We tell you the realistic window for that specific jurisdiction up front so you can quote a date you can hold.
Your crews, in most arrangements. We handle licensing, permitting, code review, and inspection coordination. Where a state requires licensed supervision of the installation itself, we'll tell you what that looks like before the job starts.
We read the correction notice, translate it into plain instructions for your crew, and schedule the re-inspection. On the Partner Program, correction handling and re-inspections are included.
You need to be a legitimate, insured business operating in your trade. You don't need an electrical license — that's the entire point. We'll confirm what your state expects of you during onboarding.
We carry general liability coverage on our permitted work and require partners to maintain their own GL and workers' comp. Scope of responsibility is spelled out clearly in the partner agreement — no surprises after a claim.
Yes. Multi-site rollouts are where this model pays off most — one permitting partner across every market instead of sourcing, vetting, and managing a different local electrician in each one.
Tell us the state and the scope. We'll come back with the exact process, timeline, and cost for that jurisdiction — usually same business day.
Every job you turned down for licensing reasons was revenue that already walked through your door. Let's go get the next one.
